Every time Californians pay their utility bill, they may also be footing the bill for their utility's lobbying costs.

#AB1167 would put an end to this.

@governor.ca.gov let's sign this important bill!
A New Law Can Cut Expenses that Shouldn’t Be in Californians' Utility Bills
It's up to Governor Newsom to sign AB 1167 into law and give Californians the protections other states are already enjoying.

Next up, let's sign #AB1167 to protect Californians from footing the bill for monopoly utilities' lobbying engines!

✅ builds guardrails and defines activities utilities must pay for
✅ increases transparency to spot abuses of customer funds
✅ establishes consequences for utilities that break the law

I just signed legislation to further protect consumers and put money back in your pocket, including:

✅ Making it easier to get food delivery app refunds
✅ Banning car retailers from tacking on add-on services
✅ Strengthening our Financial Protection Department after Trump's gutting of the CFPB

Thank you for your leadership!

Warehouses across New York are polluting our communities, creating noise, and springing up without our input.

These mega companies need to do their part and be better neighbors to New Yorkers.

As e-commerce warehouses proliferate, we're giving regulators the tools they need to keep communities safe. Just as we enacted the nation leading CLCPA, my Clean Deliveries Act with Assemblymember Marcela Mitaynes will keep major polluters like Amazon in check

Still awaiting signature - commonsense legislation supported by over 90% of CA voters that will make sure utilities don't pass the costs of their lobbying and image polishing into energy bills.

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social: let’s save people money and sign #AB1167!

Monopoly utilities in California are getting rich.

They don’t need Californians bankrolling their lobbying and PR campaigns.

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social dragging his feet on this and SB 79 is…not good. Should he fail to sign one or both, primary voters who want livable and affordable cities and reasonable electricity prices will not forget.

Governor Newsom has a bill on his desk to hold utilities accountable, and get them to stop passing along their dark money campaigns to everyday Californians.

Is he going to side with utilities, or side with the public and help lower electricity rates?

California would be the 7th state in recent years to pass a law like this. These laws are already saving ratepayers money! Connecticut customers have been spared from footing the bill for up to $10 million of their utilities’ spending.

The bill (AB 1167/SB 24) would take the painfully obvious step of stopping monopoly utilities from charging customers for their lobbying and PR campaigns. Signing it into law would cement Newsom as a national leader on utility accountability and affordability. energyandpolicy.org/california-l...

A bill is sitting on @GavinNewsom’s desk that would lower Californians’ utility bills – all he has to do is sign it. But rumors are swirling that he plans to do the opposite - a move that could prove disastrous for California and for Newsom. A 🧵:
