In 8 months, everything was gone, and I even tapped into some of the money I'd set aside for taxes. That means this year we've been crawling out of a pit, and I haven't saved a single penny.

The fine print on this map mentions something really important: savings. Most Americans aren't saving nearly as much money as they really need, & I'm not even talking about savings *for* retirement.
