Today is 3 months in Berlin! Yesterday, I bought a picnic blanket because I sit outside in parks a lot. Today I bought a bike helmet and lock. The bike comes home with me next week. Absolutely loving it here and having no issues with the lifestyle change!

An 80° day in Berlin in April. Of course I saw multiple people wearing puffer coats with scarves while walking in the park. Walk a few steps further and there would be a sunbather in the buff. I saw the full spectrum of Germanity today!

My apartment is next door to a Kita (daycare/pre-school) and it's been gorgeous here, so I've had the windows open. Starting at about 9 am, all of the children are either having a ton of fun outside or getting murdered. It's impossible to tell the difference as I'm certain they both sound the same 😁

I successfully navigated the Bürgeramt and am officially registered as a resident of Berlin! This is the one appointment I was really nervous about, but I did it! Now I can get a bank account and then a cell phone.

And I taught my last class tonight, which was half class, half going away potluck. My students had a whole cake delivered (in addition to homemade food), the Wednesday night teacher had had them make cards for me, which they gave to me with a rose and a hug. So. Many. Tears.

Happy 60th anniversary to this flag! Fun fact- my mum was part of a vote they had for schools as part of this process. She chose a different design, but has been happy with the Maple Leaf. As is this Canadian 🍁

In less than ideal circumstances, I gave my notice last week. I returned to work from bereavement leave today and my news was shared with the rest of the team. Only 12 days of work left until I'm officially unemployed and a new adventure begins....

This is my school! While I'm not part of this program, I love volunteering in a place like this and with all of the teachers I work with. Tonight is my last class with 4 of my students, because they're moving up a level in the new year! I'm so proud of them!

Bluesky seems to be my urbanism social media site and I love it. Can't wait to ditch the cars and use my feet, mass transit, and a bike. And I haven't even owned a bike in decades! Living in a 15 minute city seems to align perfectly with my preferred lifestyle and I hate being stuck driving so much.
