The Greens requested an interview on the Laura Kuenssberg Show with Zack Polanski when he was elected leader, but were denied, with a promise to interview him during Green conference instead.

This was then scrapped citing the Manchester synagogue attack. Polanski is both Jewish and from Manchester

I'm really glad that the Green Party have caught up with the Labour Party on their excellent "No Landlordism" platform...of 1902. #gpconf

I have just been (very fairly) corrected by a lectern...because I inaccurately called a lectern a podium.

I'm getting "early Twitter when it was fun" vibes 😀

Sure. I just don't understand why they are in the Green Party then.

I imagine it is a misunderstanding of what racism is? You can think she is absolutely awful and still be an anti-racist.

Thanks to a wonderful mother/mother-in-law looking after our kids for the weekend we are heading to Green Party Conference for the first time in a few years!

Perhaps I'll do a thread with pictures of everyone I meet or see?

🥳 I'm so so delighted that my motion for completely building East West Rail and fully electrifying it passed overwhelmingly at conference.

🙏 Huge huge thanks to @greenchloem.bsky.social , Ed Fraser and @benwheels.bsky.social for speaking in favour.

E01: Electrify the East West Railway line as soon as possible

Synopsis
East West Rail will fill an important gap in the rail network and help reduce car and lorry use in the region. It will largely replace the Varsity rail line, much of which closed in the 1960s. However, it should be electrified as soon as possible to replace diesel trains.

Motion Text
insert into Record of Policy Statements “The Green Party supports the building of East West Rail in full from Cambridge to Milton Keynes to Oxford, and calls for the project to be fully electrified as quickly as possible. The railway should be accessible for everyone and be well connected to active transport routes. The route should minimise disruption to local communities as far as possible and bring benefits locally as well as regionally and nationally. The route should minimise negative impacts on housing, public green spaces, nature and wildlife and carry out appropriate mitigation works with sensitivity and generous compensation.” Me standing at a lectern with a "Bold Politics" slogan and a Green party logo.
There's a green wall in the background.

Who are the 17% of people who are Green Party members who have a somewhat favorable opinion on Keir Starmer? And do they not understand he is a massive authoritarian liar?

Perhaps Paula Dodds should focus her ire on those who are criminalising protest (Starmer, Mahmood) rather than those who are opposing genocide and repression (the public she supposedly requires the consent of to be able to police)?
On Saturday, police arrested about 500 people at the latest such protest. It took place despite ministers, including Keir Starmer, asking that it be postponed following this week’s deadly attack on a synagogue in Manchester.

After Saturday’s protest, the chair of the Metropolitan police federation said officers policing protests in London were “emotionally and physically exhausted”.

Paula Dodds said: “Enough is enough. Our concentration should be on keeping people safe at a time when the country is on heightened alert from a terrorist attack. And instead officers are being drawn in to facilitate these relentless protests.”

I don't know how any Starmer supporters can defend him. His 10 pledges in the Labour leadership election were basically Corbyn's manifesto then he ditched them all instantly and became Nigel Farage instead. He is SO obviously a liar, and that's not even the worst thing he is.

Keir Starmer is a humongous liar. I always forget that this needs to be said over and over again, because it is evidenced.

Attending my first Green conference as a member, it's remarkable how friendly and curious everyone is.

I think it's a mistake to regard that as unserious. Contrary to what Labour hack school teaches you, being a self-important control freak is not likeable or electable. #gpconf

The majority of casualties on this chart are car occupants in cars.
Road Safety measures are primarily about protecting those occupants from their own mode of transport.
This level of deaths would not be tolerated using other modes like Rail or Flying, so why is it accepted on the roads?
