On Monday, Oxford City Council near-unanimously supported the Green Party motion which made clear our city stands against the far right and against regressive migration policy - from banning asylum seekers from working to scrapping family reunion.

Very proud of my fellow Green councillors for proposing this motion. "We are a rich tapestry, we are strengthened by our diversity, and we must stand up as a council and as a city for that diversity, unite against the far right and the divisive narratives of them." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I was in the Netherlands this summer for work then a holiday and the cycling was glorious.
I can really recommend Schiermonnikoog as an island filled with bikes and beaches and forests and wildlife.

Thanks! That's useful to know :)

A fair point.

Our Green group view is that the Becket Street car park should become a bus&coach station.
But I'm keen to hear yours!

Excited that the Oxford Congestion Charge means that the 3/3A will now run to the station!! Amongst a whole host of other bus improvements.
oxfordclarion.bsky.social
Oxford Bus Co has announced more frequent bus services from November to coincide with the congestion charge coming into effect. The improvements mean Blackbird Leys and Cowley will have services to the city centre every 10 minutes, while Iffley Road gets a new night bus.

Ebikes are magical. Cargo bikes are magical.
Put them together and you have one of the most powerful ways to decarbonise our cities and make them safer, quieter, cleaner and so much more FUN.
oxfordclarion.bsky.social
Electric cargo bikes can replace many everyday car trips for the average family and “reshape suburban family mobility”, say Oxford University researchers. 49 British households were loaned e-cargo bikes for school runs, shopping trips, family outings and other day-to-day use.

If you want places to be accessible to older and disabled people installing benches is one very helpful thing to do.

Seems a few people are worried that young people will sit on a bench and be a bit annoying, so the bench won’t be installed after all.

OpenAI’s planned data centers will use more power than New York City & San Diego use at their peak consumption, combined. More power than the entire nations of Switzerland & Portugal combined. 🤣 if it meant the line was opened faster I would 100% do that!
I am determined to get a direct train to Cambridge ASAP (years away, I realise).

So great to see our amazing @emilykerr36.bsky.social back on Politics South!

Political animals (~6 mins) is also my favourite bit.

Greens as beavers: making big changes&taking care of nature - 10/10 analogy.
Other comparisons were somewhatless flattering but still miles better than the Tories!

Delighted to be back on BBC Politics South this morning talking Digital ID, Green Party Conference, and pharmacies.

Just watched it with the kids: the “which animal is your party” was definitely their favourite feature.

“Well preserved” walls potentially dating back to Saxon times have been discovered in excavations at Speedwell House, the building just off St Aldates which is proposed as Oxfordshire County Council’s new HQ. As first reported by the Clarion, relocation plans are currently on hold after the find.
oxfordclarion.bsky.social
Plans to move Oxfordshire County Council’s HQ to Speedwell House, just off St Aldates, could be rethought after “a potentially significant archaeological find” at the site. OCC has recently sold County Hall for redevelopment as a hotel, meaning the council will need a new home from spring 2027.

That is QUITE the bias! It's been clear for a good while now where she is, politically. But to let it show in such an obvious way, that's just professional negligence
