Without one I just couldn’t balance work/kids and would have given in and bought a car. The biggest challenge for mass take-up is everyone’s buying them through regressive Cycle to Work tax dodge. So a £5k bike costs 12 x £241 monthly payments if you’re high earner or 12 x £416 if you’re in poverty.

A very good #Panorama episode this week, about #SEND provisions, the huge difficulties of navigating the system to get the support you need, and the realities of having a child who needs this support (focusing on #autism). They did miss a trick not mentioning austerity and how much the lack of 1/2

The research project, carried out jointly with the universities of Eindhoven, Brighton and Leeds, concluded e-cargo bikes “foster new social norms and cultural identities around family, community and sustainable travel”, with this “everyday practicality normalising cycling as a utility activity”.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.
