Trading Places* (h/t Anil)
All this talk about trading spaces reminds me when I got some samples of luxury magazines for finance bros bc of work. Trader magazine had a first person segment called My Best Trade and in the issue I had the guy literally wrote, “I did the orange juice concentrate thing from a movie but IRL”
This is also, truly, the greatest film for teaching people how commodities trading works, and also how speculative financial markets work in general. I regularly reference this one to explain investors and general board room decision-making to early-career folks if they've seen the film.

Upon further review, it doesn’t look like it’s playing anywhere near here. This is a huge bag fumble. I know my people. They’ll come out to see a film partially set at that weird historical site near the airport where they teach you how to make soap on field trips.
I've seen zero promo for this film outside of Searchlight's Youtube channel. I haven't even seen local interest pieces. People in the Capital Region PACKED theaters to watch The Place Beyond the Pines because they recognized the banks that were robbed.
I know Amanda Seyfried isn't going to be on top of the Sphere or anything to promote it, but The Testament of Ann Lee rules and I hope people check it out over the holiday break.

Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of his own actions.

“You said this is a band but I only hear one guy.”

My son when “Losing my Edge” came on in the car this evening.
Every time I watch LCD Soundsystem live clips, it just looks like a make work program for James Murphy's friends. It's like they built half the band out of the guy in the Mighty Mighty Bosstones who just dances.

I’m getting these nonstop too and I stg there is one version of the ad that heavily implies that dressing in layers for cold weather is woke.
I keep getting ads on YouTube for "the world's only tactical fleece hoodie with 10 pockets" and that ridiculous phrase has wormed its way into my brain.

imagining a guy who looks at his tactical fleece hoodie with only 7 pockets and frowns

I know we can't blame AI on everything, but my voicemail just transcribed "Hi Rob, it's Dad" to "Iraq, it's death" and it definitely didn't do that before.

Just had a package delivered *under the tire of one of our cars.*

Looked it up and the carrier was Ontrac. Never heard of them before but some light googling suggests this a typical user experience.

Kind of wild that Bendis made a comic about when he started shopping this to Hollywood twenty five years ago.
