We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire

Back to Graham Greene again for my #sundaysentence this week: "Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose, or paint can manage to escape the madness, the melancholia, the panic fear which is inherent in the human situation."

The flew the entire military leadership in so they could see for themselves that the Secretary of Defense is a mouthbreathing dipshit and the Commander in Chief is a senile, weak old man who might keel over at any moment.

If any other president in all of history said the military should use American cities as a training ground he would be removed from office that same day. The hardest thing to tolerate in all this is how relatively silent elected democrats are. It’s ridiculous.

This was somehow a flash in the pan headline in all the chaos last week, but throwing out there that at this rate this would be in the vicinity of 50k people vanishing from the face of the earth over the remainder of the term. And this is before they use that newly allocated $75B to fully scale up.
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald. The Herald had obtained the names from
two detainee rosters.
Around 800 detainees showed no record on ICE's online database. More than 450 listed no location and only instructed the user to "Call ICE for details" — a vague
notation that attorneys said could mean that a detainee is still being processed, in the middle of a transfer between two sites or about to be deported.

NEW: Air Force jets are doing ICE flights to Africa with transponders turned off, making them nearly un-trackable.

This includes the third-country removal to Ghana and another secret flight. We figured out where it landed.

They were always going to have their Reichstag moment.

Yet most Dems are unprepared to meet the moment.

But we are not helpless. We can push back hard, boycott, speak out, demand the Dems shut down the govt, demand that they fight. Take to the streets, to the phones.

Do not bend the knee.

Tonight's news makes clear that the legacy media is fully capitulating. I started Democracy Docket in 2020 to be fearlessly independent and pro-democracy.

It will never bow down. It will never give in. It will never compromise

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.
