We are working with a local settlement agency and also with Rainbow Refugee. I can't share details about the person we are sponsoring, beyond that she fled persecution and is in a country in East Africa, but I'm happy to answer questions about Canada's Private Sponsorship of Refugees program!

The sponsorship application can be submitted. This young woman has been a refugee for a decade already, and her child has been stateless all her life. They should already be safely in the states- instead they are having to struggle to survive in very difficult and unsafe circumstances...

She started a sponsorship group for them, to create a path for them to resettle here in our community on Vancouver Island. To make this happen, the group needs to raise about 24K CDN- enough to cover their living costs for their first year in Canada. Once that money is raised...
