I'm so excited to share the cover of my next book- my first MG novel in 10 years! THE BOOK OF JUPITER is the story of Ara, a girl realizing she has grown up in a cult and that much of what she has been taught is a lie. The gorgeous cover art is by Risa Hugo. Coming June 2, from Kids Can Press.

Canadian Authors and Illustrators Against Book Bans strongly condemns the ongoing book bans in Alberta, and the secrecy surrounding the lists of banned titles. When public schools are banning books in school libraries, Canadians have a right to know what books are being targeted.

Ten days later, the Calgary and Edmonton school boards are still keeping the lists of books they have banned a secret. So much for the transparency the education minister claimed to care about. #abed #bannedbooks

My friend M came to Canada in 2024, as a refugee. Her closest friend and her friend's young daughter had been accepted for resettlement in the US and were awaiting travel dates- and then the Trump administration closed the door and abandoned them. So my friend M decided to do something to help.

Share this with any American who lives outside the U.S. and is registered to vote from abroad. Overseas ballots made the difference in flipping CA13 and CA45. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that their vote doesn’t matter.

Agreed! Hannah Natanson’s voice must not be silenced. Gosh wouldn’t it be crazy if every article she’s ever written about censorship suddenly went viral?

@hannahnatanson.bsky.social is a truthful, principled, courageous journalist in the tradition of Woodward & Bernstein. Her extensive coverage of the surge in book banning has helped me and other librarians defend intellectual freedom. For her to be targeted by this administration is no accident.

Canadians have a right to know which books are being banned in our country's schools as a result of a provincial government order. Books should never silently disappear. Someone needs to leak these lists. #abed #albertabookban

This should be major news: literally dozens of book bans in Canada today, because of a ministerial order by Alberta's provincial government. The titles are being withheld by the school districts... I think Canadians have a right to know what books are being banned in our public schools.
Today, Alberta's two biggest school divisions say dozens of books have been taken off shelves as the province's ban took effect this week.

34 titles were removed by the Edmonton Public School Division, and 44 were removed by the Calgary Board of Education:
