Bluesky buds outside of Ireland. I realise I'm posting more frequently about Irish politics to the point of potential annoyance. If you want to see less of it I'd recommend muting the terms FFG and #FFG as a start. That'll cover like 90% of my rants. Apologies but we've got some work to do here.

An dara lá ag foghlaim na Gaeilge arís. Ag léamh an nuachtáin ...go han-mhall. #Spéirgorm
A photo of a newspaper article written in Irish. An Irish dictionary is visible on top of it. The piece appears to be speaking on the importance of Irish to the Presidency but I haven't gotten the whole way through it yet so we'll have to wait and see.

"Unpaid carers are predominantly women, which might go some way to explaining why their contributions are ignored." Catherine Connolly speaking out following yesterday's budget on the continuation of the means test for carers, and the unfulfilled promise of a cost of disability payment.

Remember the time he revealed to Mick Wallace that he been forgiven a speeding ticket live on national TV.

And wasn't immediately asked about where he got that information and why did he think it was OK to reveal it like that.

So Gone Gavin now issuing statements making the repayment of funds he has owed for 16 years - conditional on some quibbles he has with tenant's story in podcast - and no 'sorry' ? He should actually pay interest on the sum for last 16 years - and move on #spéirghorm

The now deleted video from Heather Humphreys’ team including an image of the Reichstag building in Berlin.

Video focused on how Heather knows the border and the North - and was posted days after she said she doesn’t just go on “day trips”.

Where's the push to pivot consumer preferences to more sustainable species? Where's the effort to grow a domestic market that pays more for value-added local seafood? Fishers can make more money with less fish if they're not exporting it in bulk unprocessed. Decades of policy failure.

It's been 12 years since this story alone. The government are doing little beyond talking about "balance". What concrete measures have they taken since 2013 to help fishing communities adapt? The science can't change, our behaviour can. www.rte.ie/news/2013/12...

An early start this morning — taking the train to Dublin with special cargo for the launch of World Vacant Homes Day.

I'll be joined on the other end by Frank O'Connor and Jude Sherry, who will be special guests at the launch outside Leinster House.
A bicycle stored on a train with a sign that reads, "World Vacant Homes Day".
