This raises the question: What is she willing to concede?
robutterback.bsky.social
Nothing, but she knows the (lack of) rules governing topics at Planning Commission meetings.

Was Efrem Zimbalist a nimbyist?
robutterback.bsky.social
“Is ‘nimbyist’ a word?” I kept wondering.

Kathy Griswold is yet again taking advantage of Planning Commission open comment to speak about whatever axe she has to grind. #A2Council

High on his own supply, figuratively and literally.

Jeff Crockett should be aware that bitching about people sharing food is a bad look. #A2Council

Took mine out of the windows for the year this weekend, in advance of heavy weather and cooler temperatures. Have one in my bedroom and one in the harpsichord room. Harpsichord gets more A/C love than I do. Haven’t run the bedroom one since mid-August.

I mean, how long does does it take for the “relevant subject-matter experts” to review this and remove the confusing markings? It’s been more than three months.

There’s a big disconnect between the Vision Zero aspirations of #A2Council and the knee-jerk inaction of city staff. See e.g. this crosswalk, where cars park too close because a parking space was lined out in a No Parking zone: seeclickfix.com/issues/19329...
Crosswalks
state law requires parking 20 ft from a crosswalk. this parking spot is painted within a few feet of the crosswalk.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on Mastodon (I cancelled my Ivory subscription). Maybe I’ll give it another look.
I had high hopes that Bluesky would be what Twitter was, but sadly that is not the case. I despise Musk and hate what he’s done to Twitter, but Bluesky doesn’t seem to be the cure.

I find myself spending less and less time on this platform. If it weren’t for the #A2Council hashtag, I’d probably leave.

I could use a leeeetle more spice.

Memo to drivers: If you’re about to turn left and you see me in the crosswalk, please don’t start turning until I’m out of your way. I’ll freak out, not out of hyper-vigilance, but because of basic survival instinct. I can’t read your mind. All I see is a minivan about to hit me. #A2Council

What he needs is a nice red lipstick to pull it all together.

One obvious though dangerous workaround would be for cyclists to use the car lane when car=green/bike=red. Is this the kind of behavior MDOT should be encouraging?

Classic abuser behavior — telling you your behavior has brought the abuse on yourself, and never quite telling you *exactly* what you did wrong, so you constantly have to guess exactly what triggered the violence.

Btw very important to say that the FCC has not at all said what Kimmel said that was so objectionable! This is classic chilling effect - there are no rules so everyone stops talking

www.theverge.com/news/780471/...
Disney and ABC have pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! off air “indefinitely” after FCC chairman Brendan Carr threatened to pull the broadcast licenses of any station that aired his show over comments Kimmel made about the man charged with killing Charlie Kirk.

The decision, according to Variety, was made after television giant Nexstar announced that its local ABC affiliates would pre-empt airings of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, just hours after Carr issued that threat. Nexstar is one of the biggest owners of television stations across the country. We’ve reached out to the FCC for comment on what specifically is objectionable from Kimmel’s show and which FCC regulations he may have violated.

As far as I can tell, they do carry legal weight.

In disregarding the bike signal and going with the car/pedestrian signals, am I breaking the law? Or are the bike signals merely advisory?
