5/ The key message? No single measure is enough. Success comes from combining vaccination, isolation support, good ventilation, and clear communication. Governments must make this possible, or we will continue repeating the same cycle every winter.

4/ Ventilation saves lives. Clean indoor air, through ventilation or filtration, dramatically cuts the spread of respiratory infections. It’s time to treat air quality like food hygiene: a basic public health requirement.

Wes Streeting blaming doctors for the chaos from rising flu cases #C4News

Wes Streeting did not offer covid or flu boosters to everyone who wanted one

Wes Streeting did not care enough to ensure clean indoor air in schools, workplaces, hospitality

Both would have brought down cases significantly

The world's richest 0.001% now control 3x as much wealth as the entire bottom half of humanity combined.

56,000 wealthy individuals have more than roughly 4 billion people.

Read that back.
Just 0.001% hold three times the wealth of poorest half of humanity, report finds
Data from World Inequality Report also showed top 10% of income-earners earn more than the other 90%

Please remember this next time you hear Nigel Farage and Reform say we must leave the ECHR to control our borders
🚨 “Can I tell you how many times in the last 45 years the European Court of Human Rights has ruled against the UK when it comes to deporting people from this country - only 13 times - in 45 years”

Hugely important point made by @vicderbyshire.bsky.social 👏

What Steve said. There has never been a study in which high-quality, well-fitting masks were actually WORN that did not show a significant impact on disease transmission. Many mask studies failed to take account of post-allocation confounders (non-adherence + non-mask people choosing to mask).
So, to those who say "masks don't work", cite the flawed Cochrane report, insist upon an unfeasible RCT, accuse folks of panic, and undermine public health on social and mainstream media during a flu/RSV epidemic...

2. COVID now adds to disease burden in an unpredictable, perennial way.
3. We maddeningly restrict access to vaccines without considering the wider and long-term costs of disease.
4. Nothing has been done nationally to improve indoor air quality.
5. Vaccines and NPIs synergise.

Yesss! Cov too - the reduction in eligibility was foolish - on the rise now too.
And N95s÷ in hospitals, public transport etc. Most of all #CleanTheAir! You have cleansed air in Parliament, now provide it for schools, colleges, health& care settings...
We need an emergency flu vaccine drive to protect the vulnerable and prevent a disaster in the NHS.

That means jabs offered in pubs, churches and community spaces, and taking on the anti-vax lies promoted by Reform and other conspiracy theorists head on.

Calling the press “fake news” is harmful. Calling them “seditious, perhaps even treasonous” for publishing reporting is something else entirely. Treason is a capital crime. Suggesting journalists should face it for exercising their First Amendment rights and doing their jobs is dangerous.

Lords found guilty of serious misconduct – like bullying or lobbying for cash – still get to make our laws. I just signed a petition to kick rule-breaking peers out of the Lords for good. Want to add...
