🚨Announcement: THE CLIMATE LAUNDRY is BACK - now on @ghost.org. I delve into Quinn Slobodian's new book, Hayek's Bastards: "The neoliberals realised that, to succeed, they would have to make an enemy of empathy itself."
Your Planet, Our Choice
Elon Musk's claim that “the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy” has caused shock and revulsion. But a new book, Hayek's Bastards, suggests that this central pillar of the Trump re...

is there such an identity as a medium? "the medium is the message," they say. but what message do you have if you yourself are the medium? it sounds more like you don't have a self. everything that makes up you is a mosaic of other people, stories, images.

With Russia recently shifting its military focus in the Mediterranean from Syria to Libya..

Libyans have taken to the streets to protest against Russia's presence. This follows a call by Libya's Grand Mufti urging the people to "kick Russia out of the country."

For @theguardian.com I wrote about how Gaza has split the academic field of genocide studies.

As one scholar put it, “Where can the field stand if scholars from within and around it are unwilling to call the behaviour out?”

i want more beauty in life. it's sad to look at the mundane, i want to immerse myself in aesthetics - sometimes dark, uncanny and gothic, on the verge of extravagance and vulgarity, but still stylish and tasteful. mood is - northern baroque

i really like the weather in berlin. it seems like perfect winter weather. it's pleasant to walk and breathe the air—so humid and cool. there's even something very cozy about this leaden sky and the soggy rusty leaves on the paths

how long can you keep swallowing things you don't like? gulp-gulp and you lose your voice. gulp-gulp and you lose yourself. gulp-gulp and suddenly you don't know if it's really you or just an easy-to-get-along puppet without feelings and desires. now you're learning not to swallow in therapy.

when you're #queer, from childhood you get used to living in constant internal conflict with yourself, questioning your truth and your feelings. and it's fucking hard. this fear of being wrong, of seeing what others don't see, has stayed with me for life.
