Clara is completely out of her depth. She has to go from thinking magic is a fairy tale to being a competent arcane duelist as quickly as humanly possible. She is very bright and a fast learner, but even with those strengths it's still a herculean task when she's a fugitive racing against the clock.

Clara is completely out of her depth. She has to go from thinking magic is a fairy tale to being a competent arcane duelist as quickly as humanly possible. She is very bright and a fast learner, but even with those strengths it's still a herculean task when she's a fugitive racing against the clock.
Things have constantly been hectic the last couple weeks, so new writing has been minimal. I'm REALLY hoping this weekend can be the start of a comeback. 😅

Asher cannot lie, so he avoids it at all costs. He's gotten very good with selective truths, but if he has to tell a COMPLETE lie, it's obvious.

Clara never insults people. She just can't bring herself to be mean, even when someone deserves it. The most you'll get out of her is a teasing remark.

This is an interesting one... Clara as an antagonist would be pretty terrifying, considering that she would become everything that the current antagonists fear she might be. Her goal would be to kill every member of the Arcane Dominion that held power. Scorched earth, salted fields. Anarchy.

This is an interesting one... Clara as an antagonist would be pretty terrifying, considering that she would become everything that the current antagonists fear she might be. Her goal would be to kill every member of the Arcane Dominion that held power. Scorched earth, salted fields. Anarchy.
I swore I wouldn't use this platform for any ranting, but this is getting completely ridiculous. I'm trying to get a wood stove installed in my house (modern, EPA certified) because the ONLY heat I have in my house is a baseboard heater in the bedroom and three portable space heaters.

I'm having my husband draw Clara (my main character) and Asher (love interest) just so I have visuals to share. While it doesn't match the era or tone perfectly, I'm a lot happier with his art style than he is so I'm excited to share it! (An OC of ours for an example, shared with his permission)

I struggle to write characters without a final name, but I ended up needing to try this time. Asher Thorne's name came immediately, and I feel like his name helps you picture his appearance fairly well. With Clara, the MC, it was harder to find a name that matched the character I had in mind.
Asher is a long-time tea enjoyer, and has converted Clara to his side of the debate. On a day like today (8 degrees Fahrenheit... and cloudy) Asher would be brewing a large pot of chai tea.

Arcanists use birds to communicate with each other as they can travel large distances without being seen with suspicion. While a large number of magic users have owls, Asher and several others have chosen ravens as their feathered messengers of choice. #Writing #WritingPrompts #Critterary

Good news of the day: OpenAI is hemorrhaging money and is set to be out of money mid next year UNLESS they overspend on expansion and go out of business sooner. 😂 It doesn't matter if everyone is using it for what they used a search engine for in 2020. There's NO money to be made in AI, so it'll die

I'm so used to writing a larger ensemble of characters that it's throwing me off to have such an isolated duo in my book. It's unavoidable given the main character is a fugitive and the love interest is hiding her, but it is one aspect that makes me look forward to other stories.
