I think poetry is actually rising like a sword to combat the prevailing narrative.

I met a reform voter last night and decided to challenge him. How would it help him'sending the boat people back'? 'It just wld. They'd be gone.' 'But how would it help his health care? His standard of living?' 0 response. The racist rhetoric is working. They're going to get in without a doubt 😥 👿 😥

That's lovely, Mike, and what a perfect occupation for a community playwright. 'Always look underneath' absolutely spot on. A writer's mantra, but a message for our troubled times too?

Hi @hool415.bsky.social Ju, here's my third response to your inspirational #promptcombo #Visitors:
Our Window Cleaner

speaks nine languages fluently.
Translates documents
for the university.

Someone stole his ladders
and his bucket, and trashed
his car.

Jehovah's Witness, his church
financed his visit to Hungary,
to speak to refugees
in Iranian and Arabic.

He bunked with a Japanese,
and says he could only speak
odd phrases to him.

Thoroughly polished
our windows gleam.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

As a Forest fan, Gary Neville wouldn't normally be on my Christmas list, but this goes far beyond football. Kudos, Gary, and shame on all of those spineless politicians who are leaving it to football pundits to call out this horrific racism (Sadiq Khan excepted). #GaryNeville #GoGary #Kudos

"The division that's been created is absolutely disgusting. Mainly created by angry middle-aged white men who know exactly what they're doing." - Gary Neville.

Yes, my dear poetry student, Geoff, was an engineer, but also studied the metaphysical poets some 70 years ago.

They have no love of learning or appreciation of the arts for themselves and the enrichment that they bring. My degree is in law. Did I like it? No, I hated it. Do I wish I'd studied English/creative ✍️? 💯

I've edited a couple fun essays for the next volume of #LiteraryLandscapes, and I'm looking for more! If you have a favorite Midwestern (ish) author and have visited one of their places, pitch me! newterritorymag.com/literary-lan...

What's clever about the old Irish carved turnip heads is they capture perfectly the makers' disgust at the commercialisation of Halloween.

To those saying the police arresting protestors are ‘following the law’:

There are 1000s of laws, 1000s of offences, impossible to police at once. Accordingly, all law enforcement agencies prioritise where they focus effort & resource

Arresting or not arresting protestors is an operational choice
