The garden weather station is reporting 10C outside but there’s a stiff easterly wind making it feel considerably cooler.
The dawn sky was very colourful.

We have a forecast for hazy skies and breezier conditions later. I think this cloud, arriving from the west, would support that.

A brief pastel coloured dawn ahead of sunrise at 08.12 this morning.
Just eight days now until the shortest day.

The redcurrant bushes on the allotment are getting a bit ahead of themselves.
Good to have been able to do some weeding and tidying up on three mornings this week.

This morning gibbous moon, showing 64% of her face.
Tomorrow, the third quarter phase begins.

In the last few days, at 03.30, somewhere close to my bedroom window, a robin has decided to ditch his melancholy autumn lament and break into his spring serenade. As we’re still 16 days from the winter solstice, he clearly understands the benefits of being an ‘early bird’.

There’s rain on the horizon.

Busy on the beach this morning. Wonderful weather for a walk.
November 30, 2025 at 12:18 PM
We were so lucky with the weather for our trip to RHS Rosemoor Glow last night - unexpectedly mild, dry and calm.
Some lovely colours beautifully accentuating the fine and statuesque trees.
November 29, 2025 at 10:33 AM
Very messy surf conditions on the North Devon coast this morning.
November 28, 2025 at 6:49 PM
Not what yesterday’s forecast suggested: clear sky and hard frost.
November 26, 2025 at 7:23 AM
Waxing crescent moon - at the moment the sun set.
23.1% illuminated this evening.
November 25, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Clear enough this morning to see Lundy on the horizon.
November 21, 2025 at 3:55 PM
-2C and a hard frost in North Devon thus morning.
On the plus side, we have a glorious crisp day ahead.
November 21, 2025 at 7:50 AM

The last 8%: our waning crescent moon this morning, with Spica to the left of it in this picture.

Just before 10am at Westward Ho! this morning. Although it escaped the worst of Storm Claudia, tons of pots from the top of the pebble ridge have been carried over the top onto the footpath.
November 15, 2025 at 10:53 AM
A very bold rainbow just now.
November 10, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Still some autumn colour at RHS Rosemoor yesterday.
November 9, 2025 at 5:35 PM
A day of rain is forecast for North Devon today and so this moment of colour just before sunrise might be all we see apart from grey.
November 9, 2025 at 7:16 AM
Acer palmatum Osakazuki just after a shower of rain at RHS Rosemoor this morning.
November 8, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Be-dew-elled flower head of Verbena bonariensis this morning.
It’s such a great plant, outlasting almost all of the other late summer perennials.
