The irony is that Marshall rightly said that Manchin was actually pretty good, at least compared to what progressives could rationally expect from WV, and he contrasted him with Sinema, whose state is legit purple.

Hate the blank ballot, but I do appreciate him making it public.

It does seem better trained than Grok when asked about Elon Musk's superlativeness!

But I do think it's cool that you're modeling and sharing your work!
January 15, 2026 at 7:59 AM
How are you modeling the unreported vote? The confidence intervals seem mostly symmetric around the public share, but usually total share has been lower. My gut suggests Jones's odds of missing out are > 10%.

IOW I don't think the public ballots are a representative sample of the full electorate.

Fortunately for @chatterton.bsky.social, you can disable quote posts on Bluesky. And the implementation is thorough, as it also does not allow a post with the URL of a post with disabled quotes.

I'm glad the functionality exists, but think it's hypocritical for free speech absolutists to use it.

If you've forgotten where in the list you put it and try to find it, you're playing Haydn go seek.

It could've been worse. Rather than the typo being an r instead of t, it might have been simply omitting the t!

Question for @chatterton.bsky.social -
If Mangione is "lionized" by the left, how would you describe the reception for Kyle Rittenhouse by right wing groups?
January 11, 2026 at 4:20 PM
Notable he disables comments and quote posts. To blame both sides, he claims the left "lionized" Luigi Mangione, which I guess is true for some random internet posters, but that falls short of the accolades Kyle Rittenhouse has received from right wing groups and even politicians.

IIRC, the tombstone mentions he founded UVA and wrote the Virginia law on religious freedom, but not that he was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence.

Some political opponents attacked Jefferson for *not* being Christian: he identified as a Deist, and also edited a version of the gospels that removed miraculous parts but kept Christ's preaching. Pretty clear he didn't believe the text was the unadulterated Word of God.

Having Miller drive natsec, foreign, and defense policy is only going to get lots of American military personnel wounded or killed, as well as military personnel and civilians from the countries he wants to target. He makes Hegseth look like George Marshall. 3 & end/
January 11, 2026 at 11:32 AM
I'm still digesting "makes Hegseth look like George Marshall". That's both clearly true and utterly insane.

Hunter has two mommies, and I'm here for it!

My youngest biological daughter also has two mothers. Ugly when people highlight difference to undermine the humanity of others.
