From c. 3,600 years ago, here’s an ancient Egyptian bead in the form of a curled-up hedgehog! 🦔💙

My photo shows a blue spherical bead in the form of a hedgehog curled up in a defensive ball displayed on a grey background. It is made of Egyptian faience, a ceramic material with a shiny blue glaze. The hedgehog’s face, ears, feet and tail are shown in relief, and the quills are represented by black dots painted over the surface of the bead. A hole for threading runs through the sphere - it can just be seen on the right hand side of the bead. The hedgehog’s long ears suggest this is a desert hedgehog. Desert hedgehogs may have symbolized rebirth because they reappear after hibernating underground in winter. Dated c.1985 - 1650 BC. On display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

I think the reason I can enjoy fic or fan art of various ships without ever being tempted to join the shipping wars is that I've always shipped Aloy with the great secret oath taken in silence.

Indulging in a Massachusetts autumn morning: grey, rainy day, vibrant foliage, clam chowder, and looking for horror books to read in between chores, studying, and doom scrolling.

Gothic horror is appealing as I too wish to be without physical form, drifting through an old manor and wild moors.

I haven't been as playful here of late.
Here's something that still brings me joy!
– My thrifted bow Horizon upcycle, that I took with me on my adventures to Utah

An upcycled toy archery bow held aloft to align with a similarly shaped natural, angled cut in a cliff face at Zion National Park in Utah, USA.
I redesigned the bow in the style of Horizon Zero Dawn. It features blue "machine wire" and elements that look like "machine plate" off the robots from the game, along with earthier elements like feathers, beads, and braided cord.
