I still think this ends with us having our own versions of chat, VOIP, social sites, galleries etc. Even if we have to go back to something like IRC. Once things get bad enough, the resistance to leaving will erode very quickly just like it did with Skype/Discord back in the day

I think I can't stress enough how important it is right now to save everything. Save your memes, your music, your photos, your chat logs. Make backups, you'll need them. Your history, your culture, the internet is going to get really bad before it gets better.
