It is hard to believe! In fact it would be impossible to tell if it weren't for the fact the minster, who had these pictures taken, drew a little map and that this one is next to the only iron marker in that area. Our other 18th century ones are a bit better, but also some have disappeared 😔

#31DaysOfGraves Day 7 Angel.

The archangel Gabriel with a large scroll is probably watching over a man of God (and his family), or he may have been a writer of clear communication to identify Gabriel as his heavenly guide.
Unfortunately I couldn't get closer to the grave to learn more, but I will.

With the Port of Leith so close to Warriston Cemetery, it's no surprise that we have so many nautical graves within our walls. Here's the first of three posts for today's #31daysofgraves Day 2: Nautical.

There's a shady character on Queen Street.

Twice in the year, at the vernal and autumnal equinoxes, the dawn light shines right along Ingram Street, turning the Iron Duke, his steed, Copenhagen, and even his traffic cone hat, into a shadowy work of art.

Medieval misericords are as rare as hens teeth in Scotland, but Dunblane Cathedral has several, including this rather formidable Green Man (or foliate head, for the pedants among us).
