I'm late to this, but @annieabrams.bsky.social recently wrote a great piece on the stakes involved in reading and teaching literature, and it's essential reading for understanding what the "classical education" and charter-school "great books" people are actually trying to do.

Common Core and the College Board are my enemies. But the classical education movement is not my friend.

As an elder millennial I feel like Word is my version of peak 'back in my day'
Ie - back in my day we had to format our footnotes by checking a book!
Back in my day there wasn't an auto save function!

Kids these days don't appreciate how much easier it is to write a paper 😆

Today in history class we discussed that societies in the past generally did not have freedom of speech and the construction of roads was as much for armies as for trade...
Thank goodness we don't live in that era...
