I once met a Countrywide hedge trader. He told me they fired him once he started to make money. That was proof the end was near. Since there was no chance of surviving, they were cutting costs to squeeze out every penny. 2/2

They think they’ll be safer in a world where nuclear blackmail works and happens all the time. It’s not like they ever propose a solution where somehow we get so moral we stop doing it after it worked so well.
