Be prepared: Dress for the weather, bring waterproof and windproof layers, and carry snacks and water. Talking to the press: Consider using an alternative name for comments and saying no to photos and videos of your face. Photos of signs are great! Don't talk to police at demos - including Police Liaison Officers in blue jackets - they can target people they perceive as 'organisers'. If police speak to you, politely stay silent and disengage. Learn more about your rights through @activists_legal Slide reads: ACCESS Transport and travel: Public transport to the Parliament is via the Lothians service 35 bus, which stops west of the Parliament building on the High Street, up a hill, and east of the Parliament building on Abbeyhill past the Watergate. All pavements have accessible slopes to road surfaces at marked and unmarked crossing points. Access to the meeting point: The Parliament area is flat and paved but there are some steep paths down to the Parliament area itself. Mobility: This will be a static protest. Sound: There will be a PA system and chanting. Our welfare team will have earplugs available and some ear defenders. Toilets: Cafe at the Palace or Dynamic Earth. Welfare: There will be a welfare team identifiable by signs who can provide masks, snacks, water, first aid, sensory aids such as earplugs, mental health first aid and signpost you to support if needed. The EHRC claims the 2011 Code is “legally incorrect” after the For Women Scotland Supreme Court ruling, which said “sex” means biological sex.

But that case didn’t remove trans protections or require rewriting the Code. This is a political move, not a legal necessity.
Services, public functions and associations: Code of Practice | EHRC
People with the protected characteristics set out in the Act should not be discriminated against when using any service provided publicly or privately, whether that service is for payment or not. Courts and tribunals must take this Code of Practice into account in cases involving discrimination in services, public authorities carrying out public functions or membership associations.
