For the Lords to force this to fail would be an outrage. It's clear that, for some, no version of the bill would be acceptable. That and the manner of amendments and delay shows that it is not merely extra scrutiny, it is deliberately undermining the Commons decision.
EXC - MPs and peers who backed the assisted dying bill now believe it is “near impossible” for it to pass the House of Lords in time because of procedural obstacles used by opponents.

“It is our system at its absolute most dysfunctional,” one MP said.

US chicken is chlorinated because America has no animal welfare laws where poultry is concerned. It has to be chlorinated because Salmonella and e. coli run rife

The EU banned that practice in 1997 and as such the UK has among the highest welfare and standards in the world. 1/2

Here's another watercolour from a sketching visit back to Winchester where I spent a year at the art school in the '60s. I had a particularly productive stay in the late '90s and this is favourite from then. It was bought by a friend and I'm sure she's looking after it.

Another of my watercolour drawings of Winchester from 1997 (still in my possession). I sat by some railings with my back to the cathedral and completed this on the spot even though light rain came on (I had an umbrella).
