My favourite team try of the year so far in test rugby.

New Zealand's attacking shape seems quite simple, but guessing where the next pass is going isn't.

This try illustrates it well and the 3-2 shape they play off sideline rucks from wing to wing.

There's a fair bit of that about alright. Hoping that more women in positions of control within the game, from outside of that traditional bubble, will help to shape the game by its own strengths and virtues instead, but it's not going to be easy.

Dun Laoghaire.

It's neither as brown nor as hairy as you think.

Solid start

Even better, ⅔ of it (€500k of a €750k increase) is ringfenced for developing the women's game. 🤌

That's very big of you Ed, and great to see you're looking well as ever.

The only reason that this isn't me is that I would have used World In Union.

To liven up a presentation I made a humorous homage to the old nostalgia reels they'd show during snooker intervals. Badly misjudged my audience and had to sit through an excruciating 3 mins 55 of Memories by Barbara Streisand over a powerpoint slideshow of Excel screenshots.

Hyped to fly to Dubai, pay £300 for a ticket, and watch Angus O'Brien, three Argentine wingers and a bunch of Japanese lads nobody has heard of play a team solely comprised of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Harry Mallinder.

You'd have to, or you're opening the floodgates. It's line in the sand stuff rather than a single exception.

There's still a chance they'll squeeze a season start out, given the likely amounts of oil money. It could seriously mess with player development and depth plans if you don't nip it in the bud in advance.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure etc etc.

It's an excellently strong statement, and passes the legal sniff test by all accounts. And in fairness Tim would know.

The statement on Rugby 360 appears to have been rather finely judged. It's not a ban, but a statement that players who go with it will not be eligible for international selection, which is entirely discretionary.

It's invitational. No-one gets a contractual guarantee of international caps.

Why would it be any different for a player outside of the orgs remit through the season? Who finishes their season in September with the RWC starting in October?

How could you even police that anyway?
rugbykino.bsky.social
I don't think they're obliged to select anyone, especially in cases where the players are all essentially employees of said sporting body.

If you look at it the other way around, you can't guarantee that any individual player is going to get selected for the next international game.

That was just consultancy waffle in picture form, unfortunately. May as well have been drawn in crayon.

Yup. Given that the schools are miniature academies, we should be treating them seriously for testing too.

I always find it a bit odd when Irish journalists have a pop at South African rugby and PEDs, especially when it comes to any mention of drug testing in schools, like during Craven Week.

They are actually finding positive tests at that age grade, whereas we don't test at that level at all.

The possibility that performance enhancers are being used within schools’ rugby has been raised in the media recently but without any evidence and there is currently no way to detect it given that Spo...

Red Roses have sold more than 30k for their next home game vs Ireland in the Women's 6 Nations... so far!

This energy never stops, would be epic to fill up the third tier outside the World Cup.

France to host at the Velodrome or Stade de France when?

You really should've tried harder, maybe worn a hat with a propeller on top or something. I'll have to inform the rest of the committee about this.
