Okay, I try not to be a one of those people that hates change for no reason. But the new BOM page is terrible. When I check the weather I want to know is happening in the future. I don't need to know whats happening right now! Why does it look like this? Why does it not have the predicted top temp?

Blair will be working against the destabilising backdrop of imminent elections in both Israel and Palestine. One of the body’s first tasks will be to build a relationship with Palestinian politics. Blair has close relations with the elites of the Middle East but none with the street, and he may leave to others such as Egypt the task of mediating an intra-Palestinian dialogue on Palestinian unity, a dialogue led by China, that the ageing and authoritarian PA president has sought to sabotage.

Tahani Mustafa, of the European Council on Foreign Relations, argues that since the 7 October attack Palestinian politics has shifted to a more transactional outlook. “Palestinians are looking to someone that can make life bearable, keep them on their land and improve their living conditions. The very bare minimum is what people are asking for. Most Palestinians on the ground have resigned themselves to their fate.”

Netanyahu is the extremist in his coalition! What is this garbage? Why would Hamas disarm if they know there will still be Israeli troops in their territory? How has that worked out in the West Bank?
After the plan’s publication, Netanyahu in a video message assured his domestic audience that Israel’s red lines were protected: Gaza separated from the West Bank, no return by the PA to Gaza, no path toward a “two-state solution” and no removal of Israel security forces from the majority of the Gaza Strip. In trying to assuage the extremists in his coalition, Netanyahu was also doing all he could to persuade Hamas to reject the plan, so he could pursue the military offensive into Gaza City.

This just reeks of someone (probably a Brit or French diplomat) briefing about how brilliant there negotiations have been. The Arab states have been willing to work with Israel for decades. It's just the price has always been peace with Palestinians and end to apartheid. A price Israel won't pay.

Of all the patients, there is one group that shocks doctors most: children with gunshot wounds to the head or chest — and bodies otherwise untouched. A single bullet to these areas is a strong indication that the child was deliberately targeted. That constitutes a war crime. In other conflict zones, the doctors rarely encountered such cases. But Mira is not the only child with a bullet in the head that Syed encounters. She decides to take pictures of them. “I thought: I have to document this. I realized—these are war crimes.” Under extremely stressful conditions, she photographs eighteen children who had been shot in the head or chest. All of them were single shots, she says. According to former commander of the Dutch Army, Mart de Kruif, the likelihood that these are accidental hits is virtually zero, given that the doctors describe more than a hundred such cases. “Just think about how small the head is compared to the rest of the body,” he says. “If you’re seeing a high number of gunshot wounds to the chest area and the head, that’s not collateral damage — that’s deliberate targeting.” Anesthesiologist and intensivist Ahlia Kattan tells the story of a small girl brought in by her mother: “She was not even two years old,” she says. “She was very pale, and she looked perfect, so I assumed she had an internal bleeding. “She was dead. But her mother was screaming—heartbreaking cries. She had spent years and years trying to have a child. So we started CPR, and I intubated her. I wanted to show the mother that I had done everything I could. We often do that with very young children. While I was working on her, someone handed me the scan. And then I saw it: a bullet in her head. I saw the blood. A perfect shot to the temple.”

That includes Fahamiya al-Khalidi, an 82-year-old with Alzheimer’s who was abducted with her female carer in Gaza City in December 2023, and held in Israel for six weeks under the unlawful combatant law, prison documentation shows. She was disoriented, could not remember her age and thought she was still in Gaza, according to a military medic who treated her in Anatot detention centre after she injured herself on a fence. “I remember her limping badly toward the clinic. During Covid we completely ended immigration and rather than falling house price growth peaked at over 20percent. Impacting not just big metropolitan areas like Sydney but also regional areas as well.

In this paper "The impact of immigration on housing prices in Australia" Moallemi and Melser only find one fifth of our housing price growth can be attributed to immigration. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... And this was based on data pre-Covid lockdowns.
Note from Table 1 that the 5‐yearly immigrant inflow averaged 6.32% (or around 1.25% per year). Using this figure, we calculate that if there had been no immigration over this period then home prices would have been around 1.1% per year lower. 4While this is clearly a non‐trivial effect on home prices, neither is it the main driver of prices. Table 1 shows that the average home price growth rate was 26% over a 5‐year period or around 5% per annum. If immigration had been eliminated, then it would have led to price growth around one‐fifth lower.
