Violet Affleck made headlines this week with a powerful speech at the UN. In it, she discussed the importance of masking in limiting Covid transmission

Her speech also gave us insights into how the right-wing/Murdoch media engages with science in the age of Covid

The event may be over, but the real work is just beginning. Our mission is to carry this momentum forward—to continue educating and influencing key decision-makers on the profound impact of indoor air quality on public health, productivity, and equity.

Yesterday, history happened at the UN: For the first time hundreds of orgs signed a global pledge declaring that healthy indoor air is a human right.

Healthy indoor air is a key tool for preventing pandemics, building climate resilience, and increasing health equity. We need it everywhere!

It makes me sigh pointing this out.

But at the "Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call to Action" deep inside the @UN headquarters, the air quality was not good.

Can someone have a word with Montenegro..

It's a really exciting day today.
I feel privileged to be able to attend this historic event at the United Nations.

This will hopefully be the spark which creates safer, healthier futures for our children.

Thanks to those who have worked so hard to make it happen.

As COVID-19 cases continue to increase, it's important to know accurate information about COVID-19 in order to protect yourself and others! Get the facts about common myths, and take steps to protect yourself and others.
COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: covid-19 is over. Fact: COVID-19 continues to spread and change into new variants, and cases are currently increasing.* As of June 23, 2024 COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: If my last COVID-19 illness was mild, it will be mild if I get it again.. Fact: Each new COVID-19 infection increases your risk of serious illness, Long COVID, and permanent health consequences like organ damage. COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: I don’t need to mask if I stay at least 6 feet from other people while I’m out. Fact: We now know that COVID-19 can spread through the air, even after other people have left the area. This is why it is important to mask and improve indoor ventilation when you can. COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: I’ve already gotten multiple doses of the COVID-19 vaccine over the years. I don’t need any more. One year ago today, I officially started a YouTube Channel.

I thought I’d take the opportunity to reflect on the year, and talk a little about what the channel is, what it isn’t, and what I’m hoping to accomplish with it.

More and more people are relying on ChatGPT for research when the product is so notoriously unreliable.

“The study authors asked GPT 4o-mini to evaluate the quality of 217 papers. The tool didn’t mention in any of the reports that the papers being analyzed had been retracted or had validity issues.

In 190 cases, GPT described the papers as world leading, internationally excellent, or close to that”
ChatGPT tends to ignore retractions on scientific papers
Study finds the chatbot doesn’t acknowledge concerns with problematic studies

👇 This is a timely and important article as September approaches.

With the impacts of #LongCOVID in kids (+adults), we must address airborne transmission in the places they are required to be by the ON Govt:

Schools + on the bus!

This means:

😷 Respirator masking (eg CA-N95)
💨 Clean indoor air

While Canada has no PCC reporting system for children, reports suggest six million children have been affected by the condition in the U.S. Cheung notes these numbers likely underestimate the scope of the illness”
