Choose Your Fighter, "Embarrassing Sentences from the Hapless Editors of Crumbling Pillars of Journalism" Edition: the "Even as we restructure..." run-on; "As we make progress, we expect to continue to enhance the product" (ah thank you for clearing that up); or "We remain committed to the market"
The Washington Post ran a full-page letter to subscribers in today's print edition from exec editor Matt Murray stating that it is committed to sports and local coverage after laying off the vast majority of the staff on those desks

Nothing illustrates this more than the Epstein thing.
Every app you go on, everybody is hungry for the juicy details of the president’s billionaire pedophile ring. If the main thing driving media was getting clicks/views, they would be all over it. It’s not the top story on most of their sites!
public perception says mainstream media is sensationalist, lusts for scandal, will make anything up to sell papers and get clicks etc.,

and then this particular president does like 10 scandals a day and mainstream media insists on describing his actions in the most uninteresting way possible
Right on cue, here are the push alerts from the 3 major newspapers lmao

Seriously: has enshittification come for major international broadcasts? What is with ESPN’s courtside mic? Sam Querrey sounds like he’s using a Talkboy.

Peak tech-broification of government. People out here getting shot in the face and this guy is proudly introducing GeStopO, the bleeding-edge Nazi ID app disrupting the domestic terror space
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.

bring back shame. shame this publication. shame this writer.
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

and i think this trend harkens back about 20 years to when Rolling Stone decided every single album, unless so offensive its hatred was universal, deserved 3.5 stars
And I agree that the Ringer network is ground zero for this trend. It genuinely feels like all the hosts have been told by management that they are not allowed to hate anything or criticize anything. Even the mildest criticism is preceded by minutes of apologetic throat-clearing.

joining the party here, because this is impossibly stupid: every team repeatedly passed on him in the draft
Shedeur Sanders is set to make his first NFL start Sunday vs. the Raiders, one of the teams that repeatedly passed on him in the draft.
