Trump's troops are deliberately attacking peaceful protesters to incite violence.

The goal is to generate riots to justify the expansion of authoritarian measures and to strengthen the case for the troop deployments.

Let me be emphatically clear: there is no "invasion" or "rebellion" that justifies the federalization of the national guard.

Unlike former deployments in support of citizens' rights -- like attending school -- this is about attacking citizens' right to peacefully protest.

Our republic is in big trouble.

The same authoritarian impulse behind these violent crackdowns drives Trump’s effort to hijack our government. The fight we are in over restoring healthcare, and ensuring funds will be distributed in accordance with the law, is an incredibly important confrontation against Trump's strongman state. Stay the course!

Jesus Christ. DHS has held this guy in the hospital handcuffed to a bed and under constant guard for over a MONTH without ANY warrant or even ANY steps taken towards putting him into the removal system!

Petitioner’s counsel has requested documentation of a judicial warrant for his arrest, any charging documents, or other authority supporting his detention. See Santiago Decl. ¶¶ 18–20. ICE has provided no response. Id. To date, ICE has not placed Petitioner in removal proceedings, charged him with violating immigration law, set bond, issued a Notice to Appear, or otherwise processed him. See Pet. ¶¶ 16, 49. In Respondent’s Opposition brief, the government states “ICE intends to take further action consistent with the laws prescribed under the Immigration and Nationality Act (“INA”) once Petitioner is released from medical care and it can conduct the examination as [prescribed] in 8 C.F.R § 287.3.” Opp. at 4. Neither Petitioner nor Respondents have provided the Court with information about Petitioner’s citizenship, whether he has violated any law or regulation, or any information that would suggest that Petitioner is a flight risk.

This is a theme we keep repeating too. Until you see it for yourself, I think it’s hard to really understand how completely unnecessary and disproportionately violent the federal response has been.

How much is for fun, terror, or social media, I don’t know. A mix of the three for sure.

I've never seen such escalation and use of force toward ends I just could not see. There was no real property destruction, no pushing into the neighborhoods to make arrests, very little obstructing of traffic. Saw chemicals and bangs deployed down streets the feds were not facing and did not travel.

I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.
