technically yes. If you include backups there are others. I know Joe Germaine is another one. But only Plunkett started and won both.

Virginia. I grew up in Cleveland and I think my kids have had more snow days this year than I had my whole life

Fortunately that’s been converted into school days to make up for it

of course. He's not going to replicate that in Cleveland. But there are plenty of coaches who have had talent to work with and didn't produce offensive efficiency on that level.

Oh, and before that he won two national titles with a walk-on QB.

Shocking right? Neither did Walsh, Dungy, Cowher. Seems like something is wrong with the voting process if none of these guys are first-ballot worthy

No argument here. He’s obviously first ballot worthy. I’m just surprised it’s generated this much response bc it happens to the majority of the guys who are worthy.

The system is completely broken. They don't let enough people in each year, so the logjam of obvious HOFers waiting their turn gets bigger every year.

The fact that no USC or Ohio State QB has ever started a Super Bowl prior to Darnold is a significant contributing factor to that bit of trivia.

I'm certainly not arguing Brady didn't play a role. The pass game coordinator obviously factors into the game planning. It's just odd that he's still living off that one-year legacy despite a very questionable reputation in his years of actually calling plays.
January 27, 2026 at 5:49 PM
Nope. Steve Ensminger was the OC and play-caller.

I wonder if it had anything to do with extremely talented players just getting better with experience? If you're an LSU fan, then you obviously saw the difference in Jayden Daniels from 2022 to 2023. Development takes time.

Maybe Brady will make a great HC. Success in that role has almost nothing to do with play-calling, so who knows. But his rise has been so bizarre. A few glowing articles turned him into a star overnight, despite very little evidence of his football genius once he actually started calling plays.
