Spent some time building the ultimate college football starter pack (in spreadsheet to avoid 150 limit).

Everyone is organized by conference and school.

Now I need your help sharing this and filling in the blanks. Let me know who I need to add!

Alex Golesh and Arkansas will host Tennessee next year.

Golesh coached under Josh Heupel at UCF and Tennessee.

Should be a fun shootout.

Arkansas will undoubtedly have the fasted offense in the SEC next year under Alex Golesh.

USF pace of play ranks under Golesh
2025 - 2nd
2024 - 1st
2023 - 3rd

Friday's game will be the highest Texas and Texas A&M have both been ranked at the time of the game (both in the top 16) since 1995 when Ricky Williams ran for 163 yards in a 16-6 Longhorns win.

Troy, 31.4
Michigan State, 31.0

*1st-round pick LaNorris Sellers??
**Miami's pass-rush awaits...

Obviously you can't always honor head to head in rankings. Weird upsets happen.

But if teams are close enough to be ranked 14 and 16, you absolutely must defer to h2h. Especially when the game wasn't all that competitive.
At this point, it's not just H2H. It's a full resume ranking. They're weighing everything.

Texas being two spots behind Vandy makes ZERO sense

If they both had 2 losses, there's just no way Vandy is ahead of a team they lost to.

But one of the Texas' losses was a one-score game on the road to No. 1 Ohio State... and the committee has told us Week 1 matters less (see Miami/ND)

This feels like our worst committee yet. Head to head means very little and their application of SOS just seems so random.

It's been 14 years and I'm still baffled as to why UMass joined the FBS.

They're 26-134 since leaving FCS (where they were pretty good!)
UMass finishes 0-12, following a loss to Bowling Green.

The Minutemen have lost 23 straight to FBS teams, dating back to October 2023.

The No. 1 reason football fans care so much less than baseball fans about their Hall of Fame is bc baseball puts its best players in immediately (save for 💉 guys obviously), so the ballot always features debatable players.

Meanwhile football's semifinalists are just 25 obvious Hall of Famers

Texas A&M leads the nation in forcing opponents into third-and-long situations

Could be a problem for a Texas offense with no run game

This is new: Heisman Trophy ballots don't open until conference championship Saturday night, and the voting window is 48 hours.

Ballots were previously live for a week, opening the Monday before conference championship games. This is a good change.

One last thought on Shedeur's debut...

The one thing we definitely learned was the Browns wasted a 3rd rd pick on Dillon Gabriel. The raw talent gap between Sanders and Gabriel was obvious. Sanders' mobility and ability to throw downfield sets his ceiling so much higher.

Penalty yardage per game:

Texas A&M: 64.6, ranked 115th
Texas: 65.9, ranked 121st

Something to keep in mind in a potentially close game. Both teams have discipline issues.

Opposing RBs are averaging 4.2 yards *before* contact per attempt when A&M lines up with a light box.

Texas RBs face a light box at the 39th highest rate (thanks to Sark's spread offense).

Might we see a surprisingly good performance from the Longhorns run game on Friday night??

John Mateer ranks dead last in the SEC in completion rate at 15+ yards downfield.

And don't blame the WRs! He ranks dead last in catchable pass rate too.

Gonna be a problem in the the playoffs

North Texas now leads the nation in opponent-adjusted scoring.

The Mean Green are putting up 18.9 more points per game than their opponents have allowed against others.

Shedeur Sanders is the first QB to win his first career start for the Cleveland Browns since Eric Zeier in 1995 under Bill Belichick.

I watched that entire game yesterday and at no point did it cross my mind that Chip Kelly might be the problem.
Sources: The Raiders have fired Chip Kelly, saying goodbye to another coordinator.

A wonderfully random list featuring Shedeur Sanders...

200+ yds, 1+ TD, 1 or fewer sacks, 1 or fewer INTs in a win in first career start since 2000

I can't believe Justin Wilcox lasted 9 years at Cal.

I feel like that says as much about the Cal program as anything.

Nick Rolovich and Cal

I think you should stop and think real hard about why your feed is almost entirely you commenting on posts about Shedeur Sanders from people you don't even follow. Why does he make you so angry?

And then go back to twitter. You're clearly a better fit there.
