Oklahoma softball heads into the 2026 season without a certified ace, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

After relying heavily on Sam Landry last season, Patty Gasso believes the Sooners have a more well-rounded staff -- with more arms that can shoulder the workload in big spots.

Oklahoma softball was 2nd in the nation in HRs last year but power dropped off on the big stage.

Patty Gasso believes OU will have more power up/down the lineup this year.

"The strength of this team and their swings — I would not want to be an OU pitcher having to face this lineup over and over."
Patty Gasso hopes power-hitting can be 'gamechanger' for Oklahoma's lineup
Oklahoma was second in the nation in home runs last season, but Patty Gasso believes this year's roster can provide more power up and down the lineup for the Sooners.

The Buffalo Bills are indeed hiring Oklahoma cornerbacks coach/co-DC Jay Valai as their new defensive backs coach.

Valai, like new Bills DC Jim Leonhard, is a Wisconsin alum.

The Sooners made an effort to retain Valai but were ultimately unable to. Now Brent Venables has a staff spot to fill.

For The Ringer, I wrote about how amazing it was that the brilliant Catherine O'Hara finally became a superstar in her 60s, and how sad it is that she was taken from us just when we had all finally begun to appreciate her:
Catherine O’Hara Could Do Anything
And she pretty much did everything. The only tragedy is that it feels like she was just beginning to get the recognition her decades-long career always deserved.

Enjoyed my last time catching up with him at the SEC basketball tournament in Nashville last March. He’ll be sorely missed.
