X has continued to allow users to post highly sexualised videos of women in bikinis generated by its AI tool Grok, despite the company’s claim to have cracked down on misuse.
The Guardian was able to create short videos of people stripping to bikinis from photographs of fully clothed, real women. It was also possible to post this adult content on to X’s public platform without any sign of it being moderated, meaning the clip could be viewed within seconds by anyone with an account. I'm slightly afraid that we have created an economy where if anything is high quality then it can't be made affordable at the mass level.
The basic problem is that high-quality journalism is not a viable market product. If it is not protected from market forces, it will inevitably degenerate into the ragetainment that dominates these days.
Ragetainment is what, measured on a pure impulsive will-they-click-it basis, the public wants.

My semi regular complaint that there is no easy way to make links in the Canvas sidebar to Canvas pages.
(You have to use their "redirect app" which redirects to a particular URL, and when I copy over from a previous semester it then redirects to a different canvas shell. You also cannot edit it)

I’ve seen schools close for snow, for pandemic, for natural disaster. I’ve never seen schools close because of threat from our own government.

Preliminary info is shaky for now, hearing two people injured.
