I see people saying it's March 1st. My calendar says February 29th.

Here is my #BlackHistoryMonth thread. #BlackSky
#BlackHistoryMonth 🧵

If you saw this thread on Twitter, this will have the same figures with a few new additions.

This is to highlight Black figures across the globe that are lesser known than MLK, Garvey & Mandela, but still important, because #BlackHistoryIsWorldHistory 🌍

You can see the shift in movies as well. Silent films commonly called out police torture and corruption. Dirty cops were all over mainstream classic Hollywood releases.

I haven’t done a formal tally but “one bad apple” and “the crooks get off if I play by the rules” took over by the 1970s-1980s.
Fun fact: this is explicitly why Dick Wolf created Law & Order: he violently hates defense attorneys and felt tere weren't enough shows about how defendants and their lawyers are scum

(also when somebody "gets off on a technicality" that actually means the cops committed a crime against them)

Absolute facts. She’s going to be a perennial All-Star. Big game tonight in the Hall of Fame Showcase against #6 Michigan. Actually a very rare nationally televised Friday night game on Fox.
In just one full season and a handful of games to open her second, it’s becoming clear that Strong may already be one of the best basketball players of her generation.

This is all the proof you need that even corporations don't believe in the "free market." They don't do anything but acquire the competition.
Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.
