Can we all agree that minimum parking requirements for bars should be 0 everywhere like yesterday? If a bar wants parking, ok sure whatever, but mandating it is just insane.

I really think we are in a gilded age a City building. We are running towards a fiscal cliff and keep papering over the obvious issues. Particularly difficult problem because citizens think that things like wide roads, single family neighborhoods, and drive throughs are a sign of success. It’s bad.

The biggest challenge for small Cities is to stop losing money. That starts with actually being honest about long-term costs.

The second biggest challenge is making density desirable. Current densification efforts are viewed negatively. Hint: Allow cities to build more of the places people visit.
