If I saw this blocking my path in a videogame I would call it unrealistic.

I think many people do, which is visible in the enormous posting of the classic pepperoni airplane. 'Data' is simply too easy to fudge

The only way to fix this, on Windows, is to go to System -> Sound, find the speaker or microphone that it will inevitably use every single time you don't need it, and literally stop allowing Windows to use that device.

That's right, the only way to get good UX is to nuke the device from orbit.

It's even worse today! There is so much snow in the Netherlands, and nothing is prepared for it

Engineers are paid way more money than artists, designers, producers, etc, and that's because there is an expectation that they will solve more complicated problems.

"That's what the money is for!"

Most of the Netherlands is shut down due to snow today. I haven't seen snowfall like this in years!

Note that survey data is always contaminated by a core principle: It is only data from folks who like to fill in surveys.

Two neat things from the Game Dev Collective survey at this year's end:
1. You can see Unity shrink and Unreal grow over the 3 year period of surveys.
2. Blender is so often used that I wonder if it's usually used 'in combination with' other tools in the pipeline.

(Just a survey, so grains of salt)

Taron is the best rollercoaster I've ever been on. Incredible speed, movement, and length!

I went on it twice, once during daytime, and once at night. The nighttime vibes are awesome

This event was a great place for Dutch game devs to come together and meet one another again.

It’s nice to have that multiple times a year now, instead of just once!

Arno Schmitz, Tech Art Director at Guerrilla, is now doing a talk in which he talks about the history of his career.

One really neat thing he did this year is making art of his family, as gifts. Using his work skills to build detailed portraits for them. Super neat!
