Unfortunately I’ve been following this since 2020. Here’s a screenshot I have from when I was looking into Unanue’s early ties with OUR and Tim Ballard

Before Trump fired CFPB Director Rohit Chopra last week, Chopra was working to improve policies for trafficking survivors who’ve had their identity stolen by traffickers—a very common financial crime that bars trafficking survivors from even renting an apartment after they escape, as happened to me

Traffickers steal victims’ identities for many reasons like money laundering or creating coercive debt bondage with credit cards, or by renting or leasing cars and houses in victims’ names and SSNs. The CFPB was only beginning to address these identity theft issues before Trump fired Director Chopra

The last time I was here in the California State Capitol, I was an intern in middle school during the Clinton Impeachment, bullied relentlessly and called Monica Lewinsky because 11 yr olds thought “intern” meant [redacted] — I’m glad Monica and I survived the bullying

I married a very talented secret florist who brings me flowers at my desk while I’m working. I recommend that everyone fall in love with a secret florist and become a secret florist so you can return the favor

No @realnoack.bsky.social—the 13th amendment literally calls prison labor slavery: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, [***EXCEPT***] as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

One way to support your favorite journalists is to open articles in a new browser, scroll to the bottom—even if you don’t have time to read, and leave the tab open. Having worked as an editor this is unfortunately a metric our technocracy à la late stage democracy / proto oligarchy created and loves

The CFPB is one of the few government agencies that actually listens to trafficking survivors. I was so relieved when they made efforts to meet with survivors to discuss how traffickers steal our identities and leave us with debilitating debt if we physically survive

America invented the credit score at the same time that my dad stole my identity as a child and named me the CEO of his company when I was 5 yrs old. I had to remain homeless longer as a teenager because of the IRS debt he accrued in my name and SSN when I was in kindergarten

Writing a screenplay set in 19th century Paris frequently sends me down the post French Revolution power vacuum rabbit hole. Sometimes I think about how hard it will be to summarize the 2020s in American textbooks and what will be omitted. And then I remember Louis XIX ruled France for 20 minutes

Please @rianjohnson.bsky.social, you’re our only hope! How can we reboot Breaking Bad?
December 13, 2024 at 9:44 PM
Breaking Bad had a huge cultural impact on the American healthcare system. The ACA passed after the show premiered. In the decade since, insurance companies have burrowed loopholes in the ACA with things like co-opting value based healthcare, and hospitals becoming insurance providers and vice versa
