this is why I love the whole mccarthyism era so much. they did a social darwinism purge on everyone left of center, intellectuals/creatives etc, so that the center became the new left, creaing the neolibs
It's hard to describe, you got cancelled for even breathing too progressively

A prominent commentator in the fighting game community, Sajam, has announced he will not participate in future EVO events following its acquisition by the Saudi government.
'It's a pretty big deal for me as a human': One of the FGC's most popular commentators is stepping away from future EVO events following its Saudi buyout
Sajam called the choice "bad for me financially."

The CBS 60 Minutes Doc confirms what we knew: The U.S. is currently using our tax dollars to imprison brown people with no criminal record in torture camps overseas.

It’s no wonder administration shill Bari Weiss pulled this off the air: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjY7...

i don’t think i’ll ever get over how we’re sending people to torture prison camps in el salvador STILL and those in charge of CBS want us to pretend it’s an old story that’s been resolved. people are still being tortured!

How it started vs. How it’s going NOW 👀

Extremely obvious combing through this who is redacted and why. It's Epstein, Maxwell, a lot of Bill Clinton, maybe Michael Jackson (?) and basically nobody else. Everybody else's head is in a black rectangle. In practice, they didn't release shit.

How will big box stores with massive parking lots make money if you get what you need in smaller stores you can walk to? How will gas/oil companies make money if you're not driving a massive SUV between parking lots? How will online social/dating apps steal your data if you meet people irl?

To gangstalk socialists and whistleblowers
What is the point of having a sprawling national security state if they can’t find out who did a mass shooting in broad daylight five days ago?

I think the most discouraging thing about all this AI stuff is I feel like it's just deepening the long term game of lauding a dev *until* something dire comes out. Workplace abuses, AI use, theft, sexual harassment, abusive hiring practices, etc. Like just waiting for a shoe to drop all the time.

Peak CEO brain. It's not making things better in any demonstrable way. Employees don't want it, fans don't want it, and there are better ways to do things they *have* settled on using it for. But one day, maybe, somehow, hopefully, it might help them make one extra dollar, so he's gotta push it.
If I had known the two paragraphs about genAI in my article today would be so controversial, I would have expanded them a bit! Here's a rough transcript of the relevant portion of my interview with Swen Vincke, so everyone has all the context. (Full article here: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...)

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.

This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.

Divinity going into early access is going to be a real shitshow because they're annoyed by the feedback about not wanting GenAI in the game now, 2 hours after the bloomberg interview, just wait until they have to sift through thousands of pages of feedback about taking it out.
