A bit of positive news today. FDA has just approved Lenacapavir for PrEP in the US. In clinical trials one injection every 6 months was close to 100% effective in preventing HIV transmission.

The returns on US $$$ in global health have been spectacular. Since PEPFAR began in 2003, global HIV/AIDS deaths have fallen by more than 50%, the # of deaths from TB & malaria has declined by 1/3. In 2000, there were 42 countries where at least 1 of 10 kids died before age 5.Today there are 4.
