All four players listed above had contracts ending in 2025 but aren’t on the MLS free agency list that just released below.

This isn't a shot at anyone but we don't get a lot of NWSL clubs or GMs up for discussing a trade as big as this one, and when we do it generally takes a while.

Whatever you think of the deal, it's a positive step to see a Portland-based outlet get this kind of access.

Before any Timbers fans yell (even more) about Finn Surman’s omission from the MLS 22 Under 22: it’s eligible for players who are U22 at the *end* of the season. Finn turned 22 three days ago (a good birthday, imho). #RCTID

Case in point: Portland can clinch a playoff spot with a win on Saturday. That’s legitimately a good thing!

They also shouldn’t be satisfied with that, and fight to finish above 8th. If they don’t, it’s legitimately disappointing and I will be fairly concerned! #RCTID

Have I enjoyed the legitimate growth and improvement they’ve shown this year? Yes, definitely.

Can both thoughts coexist in my brain at the same time? They most definitely can! #RCTID

They’ve turned the roster over under Neville, invested in younger players, and there have no doubt been growing pains associated with all the moves. But you can’t say there hasn’t been ~any~ improvement. Maybe it hasn’t happened as quickly as some want, but there has been improvement.
