Head of Stress Testing division at Banco de España. Macroeconomics, machine learning and worrying about a world full of post-viral sequelae. He/him.
And also: if covid killed the most frail within each age group, an extraordinary increase in life expectancy would be expected for a happy "post-covid" era without infections and without sequelae.

Quite likely, but I was asking if Boston had some specific genomic differences, because this hike hasn't happened in most other places. But it seems it's not the new variant, so, who knows, maybe it was colder there on Halloween and that was enough to make the difference 🤷🏼‍♀️

Any info from Boston? I found this recent covid uptick a bit weird (it started before thanksgiving)

All the excess death caused by refusing to get vaccinated has to be caused by the virus, what I call "excess because of covid" in the table is the cases in which covid was written as the cause of death. But the results show covid also caused plenty of cancer and car crashes and cardiovascular issues

Notice in particular that for this age group the excess death because of covid is a tiny fraction of the total excess death caused by refusing to get vaccinated. Also notice that this is a floor for the total impact of covid, which would include this plus the excess in the people who got vaccinated.

This is what exponential growth looks like: a straight line on a log scale chart. (This is the same chart as above, but on a log scale.)
Fastest growth is among 15-24 year olds (128% per year, or 10x in 2.8 years, 100x in 5.6 years, ...) (2023-2025e).

Those extrapolations are not helping. Talking about the observed increase should be enough.
