Killing of innocents should never be minimized. Nor should the loss of combatants be. They are someone's relative. Would you suffer less if your dead son was a combat soldier? Judeo-Christian belief in the 10 Commandments starts with Thou Shalt not Kill. I guess that doesn't count?
Have you seen a single war without innocent people dying? And how do you think that would work, especially in urban environment where the terrorists are fighting while wearing civilian clothing and shoot while hiding behind schools, hospitals and private homes.
