I keep hearing that artists have to keep creating, to preserve hope, to make people want to carry on…

…But that is really hard to do when you scrape the bottom of the barrel yourself. Can't pass on happiness if you barely have enough to carry yourself through the day.

This right here. I love my art friends and art community, but I'm also trying to run a business as a freelancer/selling products and I need the reach! Every time we scatter to different platforms it's a little harder to exist as a working artist whose primary visibility is only online.

As much as folks might not want to believe it, artists who sell their work cannot survive exclusively on platforms that cater to primarily other artists. The Circulating The Same Five Dollars™️ model can't feed us or pay bills for long. We need places where we can be seen and discovered.

I can’t blame people at all. Not like I didn’t flee Twitter, but the splintering is getting worse that it’s not really hurting the CEO’s anymore it’s just continuously splitting up communities and making it harder to find your niche or for artists of any kind to actually get seen

Yeah the API lets you just transfer all your feeds post etc onto a different server. That way you don’t have to start over your following or account like it would with going to a different site

I wish people would stop fleeing. It’s already so hard to make ends meet as a free lance artist
