UK, she/her, lefty, mum of two, married, worked in finance 20 years and now school admin, regularly tired, EV driver, love board games when I get a chance to play.
How delightful to have Mock the Week back!! Love it. Now I just need someone to get it up on YouTube without the ads and I'll have something fresh to fall asleep to again.

Really classy Daily Mirror front page on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

This Philip Zec celebrated cartoon was in the paper on this day in 1945

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉

Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace.

You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

To everyone saying to “ignore” what he’s saying because “it will never happen”…you are why we lose.

Are there images of Musk doing the salute prior to the election?

And so the New Year feels to have properly started! My son is at school finally after the snow fiasco of last week and while I have my daughter at home I've been able to get plenty of jobs done including putting tea in the slow cooker. So much more productive.

We're watching a Rosie and Jim from 1990 and they're visiting Sainsburys. A dozen eggs for 99p and 39p for a pound of apples! But I doubt they were free range eggs and did John reuse his plastic bags? Enviable prices but glad to not be back then. Plus I would have been 7 year old, blegh.

BBC News - Starmer and Badenoch's lunchtime sandwich split
www.bbc.com/news/article...

Honestly, is this what's important? Why is this even a story?
Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch's lunchtime sandwich split
The Conservative leader says sandwiches are "not real food" while the PM says they are a British institution.

Brilliant
During Covid lockdown, if you had family round on Christmas Day the police could force their way into your home and make them return to their own homes.
Does anybody know if this service is still available and, if so, do you have to book it?

So the tree which takes a while because it is individual branches is finally up. I would normally have a drink while doing it to keep me going but it's gone up now so the children can decorate it when they get home. Looking forward to redoing it when they have gone to bed! 🎄🥂🫣

We had a lovely time seeing the Halifax Starlight Parade this weekend. The children had such lovely smiles and they especially enjoyed high-fives off one of the entertainers. All exhibits are handmade, and carried and controlled by puppeteers.

It's nearly December and suddenly the kids' social lives and school activities have gone off the scale, my eyes are twitching at all the dates that need to go in the calendar.

Kemi Badenoch at #PMQs: "We had a budget in March this year and tractors were not blockading the streets of Whitehall afterwards."

Here are the tractors blockading the streets of Whitehall in March this year. They were protesting - you really couldn't make this up - Badenoch's trade policies. 😂

I like to fall asleep listening to old episodes of Mock the Week through my headphones on YouTube. This evening however I have managed to get two hours sleep on the sofa and what was playing on the tv? Past episodes of Only Connect. Happy to add to my routine going forward. 🥱😴

I looked outside this morning and the snow was gone and it was raining. About an hour later we looked out and everywhere was white again. It's basically snowed and rained since and has gone very slushy underfoot. Other than taking food to the foodbank this morning I am happy to be having a lazy day.

I've deactivated my X account so I can't see for myself how X is actually doing now. What are people seeing? It's supposedly dying according to people here but is it really? Are people keeping their accounts there and here? Or making the move permanent?

X account deactivated! Making the swap proper, I don't need that hate-spewing, ad-filled mess any longer. Still shaking my head at the state of the world though.
