Random game thought of the day:
A lot of the characterization in FF8 makes a whole lot more sense when you recognize that Squall (and cast) is underage. And the narrative is actively playing with that.
Almost like mood swings are normal at that age. That's not even counting the child soldier bit

I'm free but also this grind made me actively hate the battle system.
Normally I'm one to defend Pokemon's design choices but this was just awful and only served to showcase the issues of the system.
