Affected in any way by recent federal science cuts? Please fill out and share a new survey to track impacts.👇

I'm unaffiliated but can vouch this is being run by a group of alumni of the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship and USAID Science for Development Fellowship.

As a mom of a young teenage girl, I want to thank these researchers for this beautiful work! What a powerful example of good science and intentional co-production! #socialscience #inclusion #womenshealth

NEW PAPER: What do teenage girls think is causing the rise in depression & anxiety in their demographic?

I was struck, during the analysis, about how often 'pressure' came up. Girls are under so much pressure to look and behave in certain ways 😔

Well done to Ola on her thoughtful leadership here

We talk a lot about why adolescent girls report more low mood and anxiety, and why this might be getting worse.

But what do girls themselves think might explain this? As you might have guessed, we don’t really know.

So, we asked them: doi.org/10.1186/s129...

The evidence base for the significance of patient narratives *as an intervention* continues to grow. This 2024 US paper shows that sharing patient stories widely with staff can improve the experiences of future patients.

When speaking to (or about) someone living with a #mentalhealth condition, it’s best to use person-first language that focuses on the individual, not the illness.

31 December 1995. Still the perfect goodbye.
The final Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. The entire page is mostly white as they're in the winter snow. The pair is walking with a sledge, nicely duffled in in scarves, hats, gloves. Calvin delightedly exclaims 'wow, it really snowed las night! Isn't it wonderful?'. Hobbes follows up with 'Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand-new!' -- A new year... a fresh, clean start!' adds Calvin. As they look over the landscape, Hobbes observes 'it's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!' -- 'A day full of possibilities!' Calvin affirms. They get ready on their sledge and Calvin tells his friend 'it's a magical world, Hobbes, ol' buddy... let's go exploring!', and the pair sledges off into the wintery landscape.
