This might sound crazy, but these two books are meant to be read together.

Gorgeous and heartbreaking. A deeply personal story - to the author and also to me - of a Cherokee girl and her siblings growing up in rural Ohio. Do yourself a favor and look into this book.

Scratched itches I didn't even know I had. Sometimes you think you have it figured out, but you do not - and even at the times you almost do and you see your predictions realized, the sheer art of the story will have you engrossed. Highly recommend going in blind!

A discussion I had with my husband a while back still bamboozles me. I told him I was shaken as one of the main characters in the book I was reading just died and he replied telling me they’d already died before I even picked the book up so not to feel bad about it. It completely messed with my head

The censorship that is going on at MIT is appalling, especially given the absolute meltdown they had a few years ago when students didn't want a racist giving a named lecture. Now they're censoring and attacking students of color.
