The last thing I dreamed of this morning was the word « candle-ism » and immediately decided it was a candle-specific kind of vandalism then woke up but… there are many -isms out there. So I bring this v important question to you all: how would you define « candle-ism »?

Y’all know I love an npr book recommendation and, my gods, The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow is an absolute triumph. Wouldn’t imagine a book about courtly knights and queen’s quests to be poignantly apropos to our political moment. But it’s this and more. Heartbreaking, defiant, and healing.

Happy #BlueBeanieDay! A day when we don our blue beanies (or toques for us Canadian folk) to show our commitment to making the web an inclusive place through upholding web standards. The blue toque always makes me think of the most classic styling for links

You know what I wish there was? A quick cheat sheet on all the ways we can restrict and lock things in the #WordPress block editor. Does this already exist?

You can read @lukelebrun.ca’s thread for all the details but here’s the gist: if you want journalists in Canada to be able to report on documents leaked by whistleblowers, you want @pressprogress.ca to win this lawsuit.

The best way to help is to support this fundraising campaign 👇🏻
@pressprogress.ca needs your solidarity and support right now more than ever

We’re raising money to pay our legal bills – and to be blunt, we’re going to need a lot of help

If you’re able, please help us out and support our Journalism Defence Fund:

💡 Digital Sanctuary City sounds great to me. Maybe one day in Montreal? (After the next mayoral election 😭)
By resisting surveillance and extraction and pursuing goals such as affordability, dignity, and justice, New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani can show how technology can truly serve people, writes Rebecca Williams. The first step, she says, is to protect immigrants.
