Budgets are about priorities.

Under the UCP, funding for public education and universities remains frozen, resulting in 'cuts by inflation.'

Funding for private schools has increased above inflation.

In a real way, this means money is flowing from public to private schools.

If you need a little hope this morning - the current tween trend involves decorating clothespins with affirming messages, then clipping them on friends' backpacks when they're not looking.

Here are a few that my 11-year-old decorated this weekend ❤️

Clothespins decorated with paint markers and pens, with affirming messages. Like "bee you" with a drawing of a bee. And "you're sweeter than pie" with a checked motif. And "you can do it" and "unleash your creativity."

It takes only a few minutes & and you can choose other. I used to work in the federal government. These consultations are important and submissions do get read. Plus the opposition and journalists can request to see the results, so even if the government ignores the public will, it'll still get out.

That's what I'm wondering too - will it affect development of the platform. My library in Edmonton has a great catalogue on Libby. In Alberta it looks like rural libraries depend more on provincial funding, and they are following the red states of the US into book banning to protect kids 😡
